After many months of private trouble, a canceled vacation and a thumb that was hurt pretty badly, we're finally back to where we left off 7 weeks ago: riding in the Alps!
You can follow our trips and SEE them in the Francois' Trips Forum !
Maybe the pictures can 'lure' you into coming over and ride those same roads, with our without us, one day....... it's worth all the cost and trouble, believe me !

Sadly, due to the illness and subsequent passing of my mother, we did not get to stay long in France this Summer. 2 days, actually ! We did get a little ride in on the 16th, and you can read the report here !
We'll be heading back in September, to pick up the trailer and the bike and hopefully to get some of the preparatory work done that we planned all along... set out some additional routes and scout good places !
We'll be back !!!!!!

I don't post here that often, but there ARE some new threads in the 'trips' forum... just head on over.
We've been to Romania, and I have done a few motor trips in Holland.....
Apart from that I am working on a brandnew website which will be called Motor Touring News.. or something similar. It will be a free site with LOTS of links and regular news concerning (mostly) European motorbike things, trips, tours, places and info.....

To all those visiting my 'original' EuropeRides website (at www.EuropeRides.com) ..... it may seem that nothing is happening there....
Which is true - for that particular website - .
Due to my 'other' business lagging behind in 2007 and having to spend more time on it trying to get some income going there, I have not updated the EuropeRides site much.
Another reason is that we've been RIDING a lot. See our main trip to France and Italy last Summer, followed by 3 weeks in the States (check out the trip reports on the forum, below).
Since maintaining a website is a LOT of work, especially a 'classic' one where I have to update every page, I am now building a new site which should be easier to update. SHOULD.... because already I've found quite a number of boo-boo's. Hey, this IS computer stuff..... almost a guarantee for SNAFU's!
THIS will be the NEW WEBSITE in future !
Anyway, there IS most CERTAINLY progress in the 'motoring business' and I'll try and update things more often from now on.
Some quick news:
- many more addresses for lodging and renting available now
- tour options added for the Dolomites
- tour options added for South of France
- some partners taken off, because they too ran into problems of time, and I only want to keep the REAL partners showing here. I hope they'll be back !
- more 'print' stuff available and working hard on publishing a series of travel BOOKS for you
- petrol prices have gone through the roof once more, and the bad dollar is not helping any either. I am still confident that we can work out great tours, and value for money is guaranteed as before.

| Happy New Year .... and plans... |

Sometimes I just forget to post. having so many other 'web places' to maintain. So after returning from the US I am still wrestling through 5000 or so pictures. A lot have been posted (WITH ride tales) already on the Francois' Trips Forum here .
That includes two threads with the first of our Winter Sports / New Years vacation... more to come.
Anyway, just wanted to wish you all a good 2008 with lots of riding. We are planning (driving/riding) trips to the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Romania and possibly the US this year..... some already set in stone, others depending on money, customers and other activities taking up time (like selling house/moving).
We'll keep you posted..... now back to building my new EuropeRides website....

Seriously, our US trip was just fabulous. Seen many things, done many things, visited many places and made many new friends. It was all more than worth the backlog I now face on my desk and in my computer system ! 
Please check out the Trips Forum for our many trip reports.. I have written quite a few and many more are to come!
Meanwhile I will now also continue work on the new EuropeRides website that I am building.

We're finally coming over to the US for a few weeks...... albeit it for business for some part.
I've booked the flight over (and one back) for our visit State side. I have to be near Redmond early November, and we decided to extend the business trip a little so we could finally visit our Romanian niece in Florida!
We'd have preferred another period, but hey.... better than nothing!
So we'll be arriving in West Palm Beach airport on October 25th and will stay there (Tequesta, actually) until November 6th. Hopefully we'll find a few things to do and see without breaking our bank. We may borrow my nieces car.... that helps!
On Nov. 6 we'll fly to Seattle, where I will attend an 'event' organized by a 'well-known large software company in the region'. Nina will be 'alone' then.... I could only afford one ticket. And she would have hated me for dragging her along to a bunch of flight simulator freaks anyway!
After the conference we'll go to Canada, just across the border (Abbotsford) to stay with friends and business partners. We'll be there till Nov 14th, and fly back to Amsterdam from Seattle on the 15th.
Needless to say we're excited AND we'd love to meet a few riders and simmers we ; know from the Internet' where possible, even though we'll be on 4 wheels 
Now I'll have to get me some literature on Florida, things to see, things NOT to do, etc.

| Our Summer 2007 Journey |

In this thread I'll try and keep a diary of our trip to France and Italy, to commence in two days.
When in Méribel I only have dial-up access, so I might not be on-line as much a I would want to. And photos may have to wait until returning home.
But we'll try...... stay tuned!

| Tessting and Documenting New Routes |

Nina and I will be riding the Alps and Dolomites over the next few weeks, setting out new routes for the next season!!
I won't have much time updating the site or the forum during that time, being busy riding, making notes and making photos!
Our planned trip will take us through Germany, to the French Vosges and Mulhouse, then on to Méribel. We'lldo some more 'pass tours' in the French and Swiss Alps, before heading to Italy and the Dolomites.
Then it is down south to the Umbria region to stay with friends a few days, then back through Tuscany and Liguria to France, before we head back home again 1st week of August.
Wish us good weather! Hope to see you all on-line again after the holidays!

| Our Yearly Romania Trip |

It is time for our Romanian trip yet again..... for more than 30 years already we go visit Nina's father and other relatives. No, not on a motorcycle !
If nothing else it will add some pictures to the collection. It seems that getting older makes the distance bigger though.... it still is the same 2000 km to get there, but now feels like 4000 !
Frankly, it will be good to be back home in 10 days, even though the roads, border crossings and corruption have become less annoying than they used to be.
Driving that main west-east through-road is still putting our lives at risk though, and I am never looking forward to it !
More news upon return.
Meanwhile, here are some recent Dutch trips we made !
